Modern Slavery Policy

dotPublic Community Interest Company

Approved by the directors on 30th September 2026

Review date: October 2027

Our commitment

dotPublic Community Interest Company is a community interest company that is building a new, trustworthy digital environment that will sit alongside the current internet. Think of it as a parallel civic layer, governed in the public interest, and designed to protect citizens, not exploit them. We are a small team and we are supported by a wider group of experts and advisors who work on a voluntary basis.

We are committed to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our activities and relationships. We believe everyone we work with, whether staff, volunteers, participants or suppliers, should be treated with dignity and fairness.

Our structure and activities

We are a small organisation with 3 directors and a group of volunteers who support our work. We operate across the world and buy a limited range of goods and services, such as IT services and freelancers.

Our risk assessment

Because of our size, the nature of our work and our mainly UK-based suppliers, we consider our exposure to modern slavery to be low. We will review this assessment annually.

Our policies and practices

Staff and volunteers: We pay at least the National Minimum or Living Wage to all staff. Volunteers give their time freely. Volunteer roles are voluntary, flexible and free from pressure, and we reimburse agreed expenses.

Suppliers: We prefer suppliers with a visible commitment to ethical practice.

Safeguarding and whistleblowing: Our safeguarding policy allows anyone to raise concerns confidentially, without fear of retaliation.

Training and awareness

We give staff and volunteers who have contact with participants, or who make purchasing decisions, basic guidance on recognising the signs of modern slavery and how to report concerns. If we suspect modern slavery, we will report it to the relevant authority.

Review

We will review this statement and our related policies every year and update them as our activities change.
